Medtronic company has been systematically embedding its devices in the Internet of Medical Things. In particular, recently the company has signed an agreement with Canary Health, a company cooperating with medical services providers and large employers with their own medical plans for employees.
The Canary Health platform is developing and offering their clients special programs for patients with chronic illnesses. These programs include training courses with target content and virtual trainers involved. Since the agreement, Medtronic devices will take part in developing and improving such programs for people with such conditions as, for example, potential diabetes. Besides, Medtronic is going to become Canary Health reseller.
Not so long ago at 76th annual scientific session of American Diabetic Association in New Orleans Medtronic announced its shared project with IBM Watson Health. The companies are going to cooperate for creating new software, aimed at analyzing the diabetes flow, predicting hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia attacks, and providing people with diabetes with tips and instructions to avoid such acute exacerbations. At the same conference, Medtronic developers assured that Medtronic MiniMed insulin pumps and sensors are compatible with Glooko platform specializing in dealing with diabetics.
In addition, the users of MiniMed Connect system gained access to the developer’s technology by Nutrino, a company developing and improving apps for healthy nourishment and diet. A new app of Medtronic glucometer interprets the glucose indexes, compares them with food intake and gives recommendations based on the data about user’s daily eating , his activity level, sleep and other indexes that influence glucose level.
