Intel Acquires Replay Technologies for $175 million
Intel has just announced the acquisition of Replay Technologies, an Israeli startup specialized in innovative 3D visual content development.
Although the amount of the deal was never disclosed, experts suggest Replay Technologies was purchased for $175 million. Replay Technologies allows viewers to watch sports events from anywhere in the world and from any perspective. The startup was able to attract $27 million in funding before it was sold to Intel.
Founded in 2011 by Oren Yogev (CEO), Mateo Shapira (CTO) and Aviv Shapira (COO), Replay Technologies is now a company of 100+ employees.
This step suggests that Intel has long-term plans to make virtual reality (VR) technology go mainstream.
